1. What are the reasons for engine shaking in cold weather?

Engine shaking in cold weather is mainly related to changes in the working state of the engine in low-temperature environments. Common reasons include imbalanced mixture ratio, cylinder shortage, air flow meter failure, component clearance and lubrication problems, carbon deposits in throttle/intake ports, and malfunctioning water temperature sensors. The specific analysis is as follows: In a low-temperature environment, the fuel atomization effect deteriorates due to the imbalance of the mixture ratio inside the engine, and the mixture concentration may deviate from the ideal value (air-fuel ratio of about 14.7:1). If the mixture is too lean, the combustion speed slows down and the flame spreads unevenly, resulting in pressure fluctuations in the cylinder; If it is too rich, some fuel cannot be fully burned, forming carbon deposits and exacerbating shaking. This type of problem is usually accompanied by difficulty starting, unstable idling, or increased fuel consumption. The engine is missing cylinders. One cylinder stops working due to spark plug failure (such as carbon buildup, electrode wear), damaged ignition coil, or clogged fuel injector. Lack of cylinders can cause uneven engine output power, resulting in significant shaking, especially at low speeds, which is more noticeable. The faulty cylinder can be located through a cylinder cut-off test (by closing each cylinders fuel injector one by one and observing the shaking changes). The air flow meter is responsible for measuring the amount of air entering the engine, and the ECU adjusts the fuel injection amount accordingly. If its signal is inaccurate (such as changes in sensor resistance or poo

r circuit contact due to low temperature), the ECU may inject too much or too little fuel, causing an imbalance in the mixture ratio. Malfunctions are usually accompanied by symptoms such as weak acceleration and abnormal emissions (black or white smoke). Low temperature causes metal parts to contract due to clearance and lubrication issues between components. If the internal clearance of the engine (such as the piston and cylinder wall, crankshaft bearings) is too large due to design or wear, the viscosity of the lubricating oil increases and the fluidity is poor during cold start, and an oil film is not formed in a timely manner, resulting in direct contact and vibration of the metal stove. This type of vibration usually decreases as the engine heats up. Carbon deposits in the throttle valve and intake duct can change the throttle valve opening and intake passage cross-sectional area, affecting air flow and mixture formation. During cold start, the ECU relies on the throttle position sensor and intake temperature signal to adjust fuel injection. Carbon buildup may cause signal distortion, resulting in the mixture being too rich or too lean. In addition, carbon deposits may adsorb fuel and release it during cold start, causing a brief lean mixture. Cleaning carbon deposits (such as using walnut sand for cleaning or soaking in chemical solvents) and roughening can significantly improve shaking. The water temperature sensor is malfunctioning. The water temperature sensor monitors the engine coolant temperature, and the ECU adjusts the fuel injection quantity and ignition timing accordingly. If the sensor outputs an incorrect signal at low temperatures (such as falsely reporting high temperatures), the ECU will reduce the
